I am always intrigued by "group experience". Things as a collective we feel together. The moon walk, 9/11, Princess Diana's funeral. This week I got to have a unique one again by tuning into "The King of Pop's" memorial service from LA. I have to say I thought it would be a complete circus. Seriously? I'm still in quite a bit of shock. It will be interesting to see what the truth is once the dust settles - that is if we ever do get the truth. HBO consistently delivers great TV. I've been a big fan of shows like Six Feet Under, Generation Kill and even (the horror!) Sex and the City. They all delivered big laughs, lots of drama and -- most importantly -- high-quality writing and acting. But, even though I already had an inkling that HBO could do no wrong, I was hesitant when I first heard ...more

It was in 1993 that my Mom relocated us from Rancho Santa Margarita, CA to Las Vegas , NV, mostly because California, (Orange County especially), was just too expensive for a single parent to survive with three kids to support. It was a major change for all of us, but we all managed to adjust and before long my Mom was happily employed with Mirage ...more

Back in my rocker days (grade 11 or so), I bought tickets to see a Smashing Pumpkins' show. To promote their show and CDs, the band held a signing in an HMV in downtown Toronto. Despite the terrible March weather, my friends decided to wait in the large line outside in order to get their Smashing Pumpkins paraphernalia signed. 5 hours later, a promoter ...more

It was a gig for the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) in 1995. They were looking for musicians to showcase music from across Canada. Together with my brothers, I was asked to play Celtic fiddle music on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario for Canada Day. We arrived two days early to practice with the other performers - this included Rita MacNeil, ...more
