I am someone who likes to watch live sports but does not follow them on a daily basis. In fact, I have been to many sporting events (Blue Jays/Raptors/Maple Leafs games) where I didn't know either the rules or the players. However, my experience is that a hot dog, a beer, and some enthusiastic fans help turn these situations into a good time. This ...more

Going to the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition) has been a ritual that has marked the end of summer for me since I was a three year old being pushed around the fairgrounds in a ratty old stroller. In all my 24 years, I have only missed attending once and this is still a sore topic for me. Anyways, the CNE has a lot of things going for it. First of ...more

For about a year now I have had a problem with my ears being plugged and popping for no clear reason. Basically this creates an echo in my head which can be very annoying. Since my doctor thinks that I am imagining this problem, I decided to try an alternative method - ear candling - to fix it. I am a very skeptical person so when I arrived at the ...more

Although I have been to Niagara Falls twice a year for my entire life, I had never been the Butterfly Conservatory until a recent guided trip to the Falls with my students. As part of this trip we visited a variety of sites - Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum (actually a lot of fun),  the Guiness Book of World Records Museum, the Journey ...more

Recently, I received a small tube of hand lotion and a glass jar of foot cream from a friend as a Christmas/Birthday gift. Generally I am pretty skeptical about body products due to the fact that my skin is intolerant to pretty much every ingredient and fragrance in existence. Nice smelling stores like Lush, The Body Shop and Fruits & Passion make ...more

Because I was both lazy and dissatisfied with local wedding stores, I decided to purchase some things for my upcoming wedding online. After googling around, I stumbled upon a website I had never been to - www.etsy.com. Imagine my delight when I realized it was just like an online mall, filled with one of a kind items ranging from clothing to furniture. ...more

I (embarrassingly) put off getting my license for years. When I graduated from university and could no longer rely on walking as a source of transportation, I bit the bullet and took some driving lessons. They were pretty successful and not long after I started, I had my license. The next problem was purchasing a car. Since it was my first car and ...more

It seemed like fate when, on the day that my beloved cat of 6 years passed away unexpectedly, I happened to notice a "Siamese kittens" sign on the way home from work. The next day, partially to cheer myself up and partially out of curiosity, I decided to check out the kittens with my dad. Good thing I took my dad, since the it was the kind of place ...more

Back in my rocker days (grade 11 or so), I bought tickets to see a Smashing Pumpkins' show. To promote their show and CDs, the band held a signing in an HMV in downtown Toronto. Despite the terrible March weather, my friends decided to wait in the large line outside in order to get their Smashing Pumpkins paraphernalia signed. 5 hours later, a promoter ...more

When I was 17 and hard up for tuition money, I took the only full-time job that I could find - working at a brand name lingerie company in a big box store plaza. I think I can safely say that working at a lingerie store was the low-point in my working career, for a variety of reasons. Firstly, you can imagine how 17 year old boys reacted when they ...more
