I'm a person that travels a lot. Not always by choice, mind you--my husband is British so we have to make the yearly trek "across the pond" even if we don't want to. I've been on almost all major carriers at one time or another. Back in the day of frequent flyer miles, we even got bumped up to the top bubble of a British Airways plane. Sat in ...more

I am someone who likes to watch live sports but does not follow them on a daily basis. In fact, I have been to many sporting events (Blue Jays/Raptors/Maple Leafs games) where I didn't know either the rules or the players. However, my experience is that a hot dog, a beer, and some enthusiastic fans help turn these situations into a good time. This ...more

Going to the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition) has been a ritual that has marked the end of summer for me since I was a three year old being pushed around the fairgrounds in a ratty old stroller. In all my 24 years, I have only missed attending once and this is still a sore topic for me. Anyways, the CNE has a lot of things going for it. First of ...more

For years I have experienced painful family relations and that was through my mother and her siblings. I always understood the abuse they endured growing up and appreciated where their crazy behaviors came from, but as an adult with a family of my own I am just not willing to deal with it any longer. It is such an unhealthy way to live and life is ...more

I am always intrigued by "group experience". Things as a collective we feel together. The moon walk, 9/11, Princess Diana's funeral. This week I got to have a unique one again by tuning into "The King of Pop's" memorial service from LA. I have to say I thought it would be a complete circus. From the lottery to the "who's who" of stars in attendance, ...more

Seriously? I'm still in quite a bit of shock. It will be interesting to see what the truth is once the dust settles - that is if we ever do get the truth. Very odd sense of sadness and simultaneous happiness (yes, I think he was guilty...) but for the simple fact he is an absolute legend I can't help but feel we really lost something in the arts - ...more

For about a year now I have had a problem with my ears being plugged and popping for no clear reason. Basically this creates an echo in my head which can be very annoying. Since my doctor thinks that I am imagining this problem, I decided to try an alternative method - ear candling - to fix it. I am a very skeptical person so when I arrived at the ...more

Although I have been to Niagara Falls twice a year for my entire life, I had never been the Butterfly Conservatory until a recent guided trip to the Falls with my students. As part of this trip we visited a variety of sites - Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum (actually a lot of fun),  the Guiness Book of World Records Museum, the Journey ...more

I take my lunches very seriously. If I'm going to go out and spend money on my midday meal, I want to be sure that it's going to be awesome. Luckily, the studio where I work is located at Queen and Dufferin in Toronto, right in the midst of Parkdale, West Queen West and Liberty Village, where bargain-hunters with above-average food expectations are ...more
